"After an indeterminate period of time climbing up through the bowels of the earth, they came upon a huge vaulted chamber in the rock, illuminated by what could only be shafts of sunlight at intermittent spots across the floor. Good! They were approaching the surface at last!
As they set out across the cavern, they noticed that the floor had been worn completely smooth, as if by the rubbing of a fine-toothed sandpaper. Their green companion seemed uneasy as he noted this, and his trepidation grew when they heard the unmistakable sound of something heavy slithering over the floor in the darkness. When they heard it again, he muttered to himself in his alien tongue, but there was no need to translate his distress. It came again, closer this time and from another direction, and he bolted towards one of the shafts of light, jabbering at them over his shoulder. The others followed suit, although the lizardman easily maintained his lead, with his loose, long-legged stride.
He skidded to a halt as soon as he reached the nearest shaft of light. Uncertainly, the others did too, and peered off into the darkness, as the sounds got progressively louder and nearer.
Within seconds, the source of the sounds became clear, as a huge pack of rock-worms of all sizes and ages slithered around them, hungry, but reluctant to enter the light.
High overhead, the welcoming sunlight shone down upon the trio. They had come so far, so near to their goal! But how would they cross the last few hundred meters to safety?"
Another one of Davo's alien creations, this is 'Chega'. I'm still not sure whether this adventure will have a happy ending - or, for whom!
