- Cretaceous Sunset -

Comments:

"It is just after the Big Boom... As the dust kicked up by the impact so far away hangs thickly in the air, the 'raptor pack is starving. Normally, they wouldn't even consider attacking a group of adult Triceratops, but their hunger has made them reckless. There is so little prey around; climate change has already killed the local plants, and most of the herbivores have already died with no plants to sustain them. Indeed, these Triceratops themselves are far from their home, desperately seeking the forage they will never find. Sadly, the outcome of this particular skirmish is irrelevant - the sun is setting on the Cretaceous."

This landscape in this image was inspired by those old paintings of the Old West at sunset - a golden glow from the setting sun reflecting off stark cliffs, often with cattle or horses in the foreground. Well, I decided to go back to the 'Even Older West' for my setting! But, I wanted to maintain the flavour - an image entirely in a golden brown palette.
