- Bryce Metaballs - Drifting Ledbullunes -

Comments:

Every year, the winds of late summer bring the ledbullunes to drift lazily southward over the flat plains.

Late summer is also the time when the normally reclusive En'Tai miner-folk leave their caverns and emerge onto the grassy plains. The local short ground-cover plant is producing its tiny delicious fruit, which the En'Tai gather for storage over the winter.

The En'Tai have no idea where the brick ledbullunes come from, or who built them for what purpose... They are creatures of the earth, while the ledbullunes belong to the sky. All they know is that these massive structures float by every year, and their appearance heralds the ripening of the plainfruit. Cause? Effect? The En'Tai neither know nor care.

Occasionally the En'Tai manage to capture a ledbullune, anchoring it to the ground. This always leads to great fun as the little folk scramble around its interior, occasionally building wooden platforms to ring the massive domes. They play for hours along the edge, for they are rarely able to get so high above the ground!

But the En'Tai know they must be careful, as the ledbullunes always escape their tethers eventually. Pity the poor soul caught inside, as no En'Tai trapped aboard a departing ledbullune has ever been heard from again...

One of my submissions for the YahooGroups Bryce List's first December challenge... to produce an image using the Metaballs feature of Bryce...

This one occurred to me while doing the 'doodle' presented last week - along with the accompanying story.
