For almost 1000 years, the Rangers have kept their promise to Valen, the ancient leader of the Minbari race, "A Minbari not born of Minbari". In spite of the nearness of the Millennium of Valen, few of the Rangers really believe in their heart of hearts that the Time of Prophecy is approaching. So far, there is no sign of the fabled 'other race' which will stand shoulder to shoulder with the proud Minbari against the ancient darkness. Yet the Rangers will still maintain their lonely vigil, watching for signs of the resurgence of the Shadows.
And so, one morning on a balcony overlooking the ancient city of Tuzanor on Minbar itself, the leader of the class of students at the Ranger Training compound introduces a guest from the Religious Caste, who will demonstrate one of the Relics of Valen. This image arose from my wish to play with the Minbari again! About a year ago, I built a Minbari headpiece, which languished in its 'not-quite-finished' state after I posted the image which featured it. Recently, a fellow Poser-using Babylon 5 fan was looking for a Minbari prop, and I resurrected the 'bonehead' and finished modelling it. I also improved my 'morph target' for the distinctive Minbari face, particularly the distinctive brow. In the last few days, I went one further, starting from scratch and modelling the alternate 'smooth' form of the Minbari 'bonehead', similar to the version sported by Delenn prior to her transformation. The woman from the Religious Caste is wearing that style in this image, the first time I've shown it... A depiction of the events of about 2240CE in the Earth Calendar - almost 20 years before there was a place called Babylon 5.
