Those crew members who were still conscious could finally relax as they slid into close proximity to Nueva Geneva, and shipsystems relinquished control to the traffic computers of Fleet Sector HQ.
At first, their gaze was drawn to the inviting view of the green planet below, with its mountainous terrain and blue seas. Then, as they drew closer to Sector HQ itself, they marvelled at its sheer size; it had still been under construction when they left for their remote posting. Now, it hosted a permanent population of 20,000, as well as visiting specialists and travellers in transit.
Finally, as they coasted in towards Landing Pod 1, they saw one of the new fighter models as it passed them outbound under traffic control. Ships like that would hopefully be dispatched to protect remaining colonists back in that distant system.
Both the space station and the new variants of my copper scout (there are two, although the second is barely visible in this image, sitting on the Landing Pod apron) are new constructs in RayDream. Other ships in this image were built over the past few years, also in RayDream; some have since been converted for use in Bryce and other software apps.
This image was rendered in RayDream; Bryce and Photopaint were used to create the backdrop.
