Another 'glamour shot', from another of my favourite genre movies - this time the opulent Fhloston Paradise Luxury Liner from Luc Besson's the Fifth Element. Again, you can read my capsule review of the film on the Hobbies page.
I built the model from scratch in RayDream first; then, dissatisfied at the time with my attempts to use the '4 Elements' RayDream plug-in as well as I would like (maybe it was one element short! No, it was more likely a failure in my own capacity, not intended as a reflection on the fine folks at RAYflect!), I decided that it would render better in Bryce (which I felt had better 'water' textures, given my then-current skill level). So, I set out to import the model into Bryce, one piece at a time.
Based on our brief views of Fhloston Paradise from space, I don't know if the planet had any significant land masses at all (although I've always envisioned day-excursions to some of the planet's "400 beaches, all accessible until 5:00 p.m.", for the amusement of the ultra-chic guests); so I've simply rendered the luxury liner floating over the planetary ocean, as presented in the movie.
